"Oh no! I didn't realized time flies so fast and I forgot about it!" a voice screamed inside Cornelia's head.
Her red eyes glued to the calender. A black marker circled January 26th, Tory's birthday.
"Cornelia, what's wrong? You looked horrified." Sabrina uttered while came by.
"Tory's birthday is today and I still haven't got a present for her! Oh! What in the world should I do?" Cornelia panicked, shaking Sabrina with quivering hands.
"Whoa! Calm down, girl! We haven't got presents as well, but we have an idea." Sabrina replied with a wink.
Estella, Penelope, Rosemary, Charmaine and Avren shortly entered in the room where Cornelia and Tory settled in for the university years. Luckily Tory was away for dancing club.
"Penelope just booked a few tables for us and the boys at Cafe La Boheme. It has great food like pasta, and chandeliers above, and a great view outside as well." Charmaine announced.
"La Boheme? That's an expensive restaurant! Are you sure about this?" Cornelia gasped with eyes widened.
"Relax! The boys got everything under control when it comes to cash, and in addition, we will go to the mall for gift-hunting." Sabrina smiled.
"I need a unique present for Toria though." Cornelia sighed.
"I got it!" Avren suddenly cried with a wave of excitement, "Luminoux has thousands of shooting stars that can be captured and they grant a person's wish! I bet a shooting star will be perfect! "
"Luminoux, huh? That's the planet of light and it contains the virtual energy of the Sun, the Moon and stars." Charmaine recalled.
"That's perfect!" Cornelia squeled, gave Avren a hug of thanks, "That means I should go now!"
"We're coming too!" Charmaine decided.
"Rosemary and I will stall Tory till you all come back with a shooting star, alright?" Estella voiced out.
Avren summoned a bright portal in the colour of the Sun on a wall. One by one, the 5 girls immersed themselves into the portal.
"Hmm..Tory should be back by now." Estella said while staring at the red-rimmed clock of Cornelia's and Tory's bedroom.
"You don't think that..." Rosemary paused.
They immediately strutted out of the apartment and hopped into Estella's car. 10 minutes later, the car parked in front of Silverstone's main campus. And sure enough, Tory sat next to the dean's office. "Darn! Causing trouble again?" Estella groaned.
The prankster and maverick of the clique slouched on her seat. Her arms folded.
"What? I just cast a metamorphosis spell on Professor Vleddmir. You should see his new frogy face!" Tory bursted out laughing. Rosemary shook her head in dismay.
"Anyway, I have to meet up with my kiddo Cornelia in half an hour." Tory continued.
"Umm..you shouldn't see her." Rosemary blurted out.
Tory stared at Rosemary with curious eyes. "Cornelia's busy, and so are the rest." Estella backed her up.
"Well..okay then. How about you two come to the mall with me?" Tory asked.
"Okay, but no pranks this time!" Estella agreed.
Meanwhile, in Luminoux, the other 4 Aurelz and Avren were stunned to see a glorious sunlight shone onto them. "Luminoux! It's so good to be here again! The sun, the heat, the light!" Avren beamed.
"So where can we find a shooting star?" Cornelia asked.
"We have to fly up in the clouds. The night sky is above the clouds." Avren replied.
"Then let's do it!" Penelope winked, holding up her Topaz amulet.
"For Avethelem!" Cornelia, Penelope, Charmaine and Sabrina screamed as their respective amulets glowed.
"Illumination! Shine on me!" Avren cried while raising up her hands for her two solar rings to glow.
In seconds, they were transformed into fairies with magnificient wings on their backs.
"The emblem of warmth and extreme fury," Cornelia introduced, "fire!"
"The energy of speed and freedom..air!" Sabrina uttered while striking her pose.
"The element of grace and pure beauty," Penelope cried, "ice!"
"The source of serenity and fulfillment," Charmaine finally voiced, "water!"
Avren and the 4 Avethelem fairies went through the clouds and found themselves in a complete different world of night. The moon flashed its silver light onto them and the stars glistened with playful-looking shooting stars.
"Here's a pouch. Now put it in front of you to catch a shooting star." Avren instructed, handing Cornelia a white silk bag with a light wave of her index finger. Cornelia took a deep breath and hold the pouch nervously. Praying hard, she zoomed towards one and finally snatched it in one blow.
"Catching stars, huh? Mind if we join the party?" a diabolic voice startled them.
The fairies swiveled their heads, and saw 2 of the Voural Star servants floating on the clouds.
"What are you doing here, blood suckers?" Sabrina frowned.
"You will never get Avren's blood!" Cornelia said willingly.
"We won't turn down on our leader's request. Avren's blood is important for our plan to turn the whole universe into darkness and violence. Fangs will always be everyone's nightmare" Narzan, the vampire of telekinesis snapped back in fury.
"I take that as a no," Penelope combated, "Artic energy!"
The vampires leaped off as Penelope's wide-area freezing spell whooshed onto the clouds.
Sabrina twirled her whole body in midair as she turned into a spinning whirlwind. "Swift emission!" she cried, charging right at the vampire of sedation. Losing focus, Tyce was knocked right at his chest.
"Oh,and by the way, if you defeat us so seriously, then I'm afraid that you won't be able to get your precious element cores back!" Narzan guffawed.
"I thought your leader is the one who got our element cores. Tell him to give us them back!" Charmaine frowned.
"Not a chance!" Narzan roared and sent a couple of clouds to charge at Charmaine with his mind.
"Ocean anemone!" the water fairy summoned her Avethelem shield in the nick of time.
"Vampires can't stand at light, so leave this to me,girls!" Avren volunteered, "Torch of the Sun!"
Successfully, Avren's sunlight incantation blinded the vampires' eyes.
"Sword of Inferno! Double copy!" Cornelia prepared for final attack. A couple of crimson-varnished swords appeared on her hands. She immediately connected the ends of each sword, forming into a large bow.
"Fire quil..." Cornelia chanted, eyed at her target with her flaming arrow pointing, "assault!!!"
The arrow released from her firm grip. It zoomed right at the blinded villians.
There was a fiery explosion.
"Tyce and Narzan had disappeared!" Sabrina groaned.
The swilrs of ashes faded away and the vampires were nowhere in sight.
"Oh Snap!" Cornelia suddenly yelped, "The shooting star! It's gone!"
Het adrenaline pumped wildly as her pouch was empty, as light as before.
"It must have fallen off while we were fighting." Sabrina guessed, "Don't worry! We'll get another one, plus there's plenty of shooting stars here."
Before Cornelia could answer, a fairy in gold suddenly approached towards them. "Sapphrine!" Cornelia smiled.
"Please don't tell me you forget about me." Saphhrine giggled, "Shooting stars are perfect for presents, but not as good as the ones here."
"What do you mean?" Cornelia asked, curious.
Sapphrine waved both hands in a circular pattern, and in front of them was an extremely bright shooting star! "I'm the fairy of stars. I create and control shooting stars. This is the brightest shooting star in the entire universe. I believe this is perfect for your friend Tory." she explained.
"Wow! It sure is bright!" Penelope commented, shading her eyes from the blinding rays.
"Thank you, big sister!" Cornelia replied while gently lifted the shooting star and stuffed it into her pouch.
Tory, Estella and Rosemary were at La Boheme for the special dinner, with the boys of course. Tory was still anxious about Cornelia.
"Where's Cornelia and the rest? It's already 5pm!" Tory groaned.
"They'll be back any minute, Tory." Rosemary sighed.
"By the way, I'm tired of you flirting and harrasing me at the mall just now, Tory." Estella maligned.
"Hey! I'm just bored, that's all!" Tory chuckled slyly.
The glass doors swung open. "Happy birthday, Tory!" the 4 of the Aurelz and Avren cheered.
Tory was both shocked and overjoyed. "So that's why you're so busy this whole day!"she laughed.
La Boheme was filled with chatters and laughters that evening. They also enjoyed the scrumptious food served on the tables. And as night fell, Cornelia insisted everyone to gather outside.
"Is this about my present?" Tory asked.
Cornelia smirked, and then handed the pouch to her friend. "Lift this in the air and open the lid." Corneila clued.
Puzzlement were written all over Tory's face. She hastily did so, and to her amazement, the white shooting star zoomed out like a rocket. It glided to the night sky, glimmered magically under the moonlight.
"A shooting star?" Tory mused.
"Quick! Make a wish!" Ryson quipped excitedly.
"How do you manage to get one of those?" Lincent exclaimed, eyeing suspeciously at his girlfriend. Cornelia winked and let out a small giggle. "Let's just say I get help from Sapphrine." she replied.
"Oh, Cornelia! This is the best birthday present ever! Thank you so much!" Tory grinned. She threw her arms around Cornelia to give her a squeeze.
"So what do you wish for?" Estella's boyfriend, Robert asked.
"Robert! Don't ask that! You'll jinx it!" Lincent scolded.
The fairies and wizards laughed. The shooting star vanished, and the magnificient view of Los Angles laid before their eyes.
"Thanks, everyone! For your gifts and the dinner here." Tory smiled gratefully. Ryson couldn't help smiling as well.
"Hey! There's dessert! Last one to the table won't get a slice of banana cream pie!" Devon, Sabrina's soulmate reminded.
Tory and Ryson were left behind as the rest hustled playfully their way back into the restaurant.
"Happy birthday, Tory." Ryson whispered into her ear. Ryson and Tory shared a sweet kiss, never letting go off their embrace.
