"Penelope, what are you doing here?" Cornelia asked. She bumped into her friend at a bookstore.
"I'm looking for a birthday gift. Sabrina's birthday is tomorrow." Penelope replied.
"Really? I didn't know that!" Cornelia gasped.
"Well you do now! Sabrina and I are close, and we share everything. I need a special gift for her, something that is according to her likes or talents." Penelope smiled.
"You criticize Sabrina's actions a lot, don't you know?" Estella approached by with her eyes narrowed.
Penelope let out a laugh. "Well, I get annoyed at her attitude sometimes, but I still count her as a friend."
"So got anything?" Cornelia asked shyly.
"How about this set of Detective Conan comics?" Penelope questioned, holding one from a shelf.
"Sabrina already have one of these. You need to give her something else." Estella replied.
"Help me find one then! I've been looking for a present in hours!" Penelope whined.
"I heard there's a new shop in this mall. It's some sort of a magic store." Estella suggested.
Penelope's eyes glistened with excitement. "Well then, let's go!"
Cornelia, Estella and Penelope made thier way up to the 2nd floor where the magic shop was located.
"Kaboom? More like a grenade store to me." Estella joked, reading the sign of the store.
"This might be the only place for me to choose a gift. Now come on!" Penelope smiled.
Cornelia, Estella and Penelope eyed at the shelves stored with weird objects. Magic trick kits, funny costumes, 3D puzzles.."Hey! How about this one?" Cornelia suggested. She lifted a large sketchbook from the art section.
"An ordinary sketchbook?" Penelope quesitoned.
"Not just an ordinary sketchbook. It's a glow-in-the-dark 3D sketchbook!" Cornelia smiled.
"That's perfect!" Penelope agreed.
The sketchbook was bought, but the girls didn't realized that the sketchbook suddenly let out a glow, all by itself.
The next day, sunlight flashed through the window of Sabrina's bedroom. The purple door creaked open as the other 4 girls tiptoed to Sabrina's bed. Cornelia tried not to giggle, as she signalled to three.
"Happy birthday!" they cried.
Sabrina ripped her sleeping mask off her eyes. She was, of course, in shock. "You guys! Don't interrupt my beauty sleep!" she growled.
The Aurelz laughed.
"Anyway," Sabrina pulled a smile, "thanks for the surprise."
"Oh! These are lovely!" The girls watched in glee as Sabrina opened each gift which laid on her dressing table. "And whoa! Is this a glow-in-the-dark sketchbook? I've always wanted one of these!" Sabrina squeled. Penelope smiled wider.
"Okay! Party's over! We need to get to class in 5 minutes!" Charmaine warned.
Sabrina dropped her new present on her desk. There was the glow again, but the girls didn't sense it.
"Okay, class! We're now on the silhoutte section of the Incantations chapter. Everyone find yourself some space cause you'll need to cast your illusions." the Enchantalogy teacher, Mrs. Venile announced.
"Charmaine, this might be your favourite subject." Cornelia smiled.
"I know! I can finally cast as many water figures as I want!" Charmaine agreed.
So, as the chairs and desks were moved against the walls, all 20 students formed a circle with the teacher stood at the centre. "If you refer to page 39, you'll see the basic tips on how to create an illusion. Let me demonstrate." the teacher began.
All eyes were glued on her. She immediately closed her eyes and within a few seconds, a bright silver glow elicited. It formed into an illusion of Mrs.Venile! "Wow!" Estella exclaimed.
"Silhouttes are easy to summon. They look real, but they don't have a soul like we do.And as for simple ones, they'll just vanish or blur out once you touch them." Mrs.Venile explained.
"Can you do a solid one,ma'am?" Charmiane asked enthusiatically.
Mrs. Venile closed her eyes once more, and a stronger glow appeared. It then moulded into an exact copy of herself. The image's eyes blinked. It breathed in air. "Awesome!" the class mused.
"Now you try!" the teacher winked. "Remember, picture yourself in front of a mirror. And the image of yours will reflect on it."
"As easy as ABC!" Charmaine giggled. She literally cleared her mind. In a blink of an eye, a spring of water gushed towards her, creating a copy of herself. "That's great for a fast learner!" Mrs.Venile praised.
Cornelia gently pat on Charmiane's illusion. Sure enough, the cheeks were warm. Her eyes blinked. She was breathing normally, like a human. "You really are good, Charmaine!" Cornelia grinned.
"We water summoners cast silhouttes all the time." Charmaine laughed.
That evening, Sabrina went back to her room in the apartment. She was definitely looking forward on her first artwork on her new sketchbook. Like all other artists, her mind was zooming with new ideas for her artwork. "Let's see. Pencils, check. Sketchbook, check. Light, check. And it's time to draw some anime!" Sabrina smiled to herself.
The lead tip of her 2B pencil gestured smoothly on the paper as the talented artist sketched some monsters from an old anime series, Sailor Moon. Then, she continued on some other anime series. From Cardcaptor Sakura to Samurai X.
"Sabrina! Let's go! You wouldn't want to be late for your birthday dinner!" Estella called from the half-open door.
"Okay! Just give me 5 minutes!" Sabrina replied, dropping her finished work.
The Aurelz finally celebrated the tanned fashiionista's special day at Taco Bell. "You guys choose your orders. I'll pay for all of your meals." Sabrina volunteered.
"No way! You're the birthday girl! Your meal is on all of us!" Estella argued.
"Yeah! We'll pay for your meal. Our treat!" Cornelia said generously.
"Aww..you shouldn't have!" Sabrina thanked.
Suddenly, as Cornelia was about to pay at the counter, the whole restaurant shoke. Vigorously.
"An earthquake!" Charmiane screamed.
"RUN!" Cornelia shrieked.
The place rattled like as if a naughty boy shook a bird's cage in a violent, reckless way. Luckily, the girls made thier way out of Taco Bell. "Wait a minute. How come the roads are not cracking?" Estella asked.
"I think I know why! It's not an earthquake! It's a group of...monsters!!!" Penelope squeked.
She was pointing at an approaching army of giant dragons, nightmare-like beasts and demonic witches. They were familiar to Sabrina. Those red-gleaming eyes of diabolism. Those white-polished razor teeth. The Japanese accent cried by the witches.
"Are those the demons I drew an hour ago?" Sabrina panicked.
"Huh?" Estella coughed.
"Those monsters. Those witches. They're exactly like the drawings on my sketchbook." Sabrina replied.
"What in the world is going on?" Cornelia wailed with fear.
Anxiety grew in Sabrina's green eyes. Without thinking, she dashed away. She carried her feet back to Paigenium Fairy Academy, which was luckily a few blocks away. "Don't tell me that.." Sabrina gasped breathelessly. She could hear her cardiac heart pumped madly. Before she knew it, the suite was turned upside down. Once she stepped through the door, the sofas were overturned and the magazines on the table were ripped into pieces. Her single room was messed up as well. The only thing which caught her attention was the sketchbook that laid wide open on her study desk. The pages were unharmed, but they were empty. Blank. Sabrina was quite sure that she drew a lot of anime on it. Then, something struck her. It hit her like lightning. The anime monsters came to life from her sketchbook!
While the birthday girl was away, the other 4 teenagers metamorphosed themselves into fairies with, of course, their first-level wings.
"Inferno core! Ignite!" Cornelia screamed. Her red, rose-shaped element core let out a glow, fueling her up with a higher drop of energy.
"Sonata core! Ignite!" Estella joined in as well. Her orange, songnote-carved core glistened to summon an attack. "Where is Sabrina? We can't destroy all these monsters without her!" Penelope groaned. They hustled here and there to escape themselves from the bondage of their new enemies.
"We have to defeat without her for now." Cornelia replied, "And now...Inferno Thunder!"
"Symphony Blast!" Estella cried.
The two tactics sprinted out towards the alive drawings. Slowly, they were weakened.
"Hey,girls! Do I miss anything?" Sabrina's voice made everyone jumped.
"Sabrina! Just in time, girl!" Penelope grinned joyfully.
Sabrina allowed spirals of magic dust to wrap around her. "Sabrina! Air Summoner!" she chanted, transforming herself into her fairy form.
"Those monsters are actually drawings! They must have been given life and escape from my new sketchbook." she explained.
"You mean the sketchbook I give you is dangerously magical?" Penelope paused. Her throat went dry.
"I think so, but don't worry. We'll talk about it later." Sabrina changed the subject.
"Let's shoot at them at one blow." Cornelia suggested, " Crossfire Emission!"
"Voices of Heaven!" Estella screamed, using another attack.
"Now it's our turn!" Penelope voiced, "Polar Force!"
"River Bubbles!" Charmaine yelled.
"Take this! Cosmic Typhoon!" Sabrina lifted her voice to the highest volume.
All 5 attacks crashed into a boiling white sphere, overlapped across the city.
"Is it over?" Cornelia shivered.
"It's gone! They're all gone!" Sabrina cheered.
The leader uncovered her eyes. The anime rivals had disappeared, but the city was in huge damage.
"Oh boy!" Charmaine bit her lip.
A couple of police cars skidded in front of the 5 girls. "Charmaine!" Cornelia gave an allusion.
"Transport us now! Ocean tail!" the water fairy ordered.
In the nick of time, the Aurelz went sent back to their apartment. Sabrina explained as the rest were shocked to see their suite were in a huge mess. Penelope was still confused and afraid about the sketchbook. Did that mean Sabrina dislike her present?
"I love the sketchbook, Penelope." Sabrina read her mind.
"But it causes harm to the city." Penelope disagreed, "I have no idea why does this kind of thing pops in the store."
"It certainly is an extraordinary present, and I'm not going to throw it away. A glow-in-the dark 3D sketchbook is unique. Hmm..maybe tomorrow I can get help from Mrs.Venile to eliminate the spell from it." Sabrina decided.
"That's a good idea!" Estella nodded.
"I hope the life spell will be erased." Penelope wished desperately.
"It will. I'm positive." Sabrina gave a promising wink, "And you know what? This is so far an interesting birthday."
"Um..sorry to interupt,but..we haven't ate our dinner yet." Charmaine suddenly reminded.
"Darn!" Cornelia laughed. The Aurelz called the Taco Bell restaurant to deliver their orders instead, for they are too tired to lift another step. They enjoy that special day, including Sabrina.
